This agreement is voluntary and by agreeing to the terms, you are stating that you have carefully read, clearly understand and agree to the terms stated below. Services include: - Bathing - Drying - Haircut (if requested) - Brushing - Ear cleaning - Nail trimming (if tolerated) - Pulling of ear hair (upon request and if tolerated). Please note that pulling/plucking ear hair can cause ear infections in some dogs. If your groomer plucks the ear hair by request, and an ear infection results, we are not responsible for the medical treatment of the ear infection. - External Anal gland expression (upon request) Health & Safety of Dogs and Groomers We reserve the right to refuse any pet service for the health and safety of the groomer or the pet. This includes: - Female dogs in heat - Aggressive or behavioral issues - Health problems - Fleas or parasites A muzzle may be used, or services discontinued if your groomer determines that continuing services presents an unsafe condition. For the safety of your pet and the other pets in our care, your dog will be placed in a kennel and must be properly trained. If service is discontinued due, you will need to be available to pick your pet up immediately. Appointment Commitments We understand that emergencies can arise. Please be aware of our policies: - Cancellations or re-bookings made with at least 24 hours' notice will incur no rescheduling fee. - Schedule changes with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a fee of half the grooming cost. Senior Pets/Medical Problems We take extra care with senior pets or those with health problems. We will only groom for cleanliness and comfort and may need to adjust our approach or schedule accordingly. The grooming process can be stressful for a senior pet or those with health problems, expose hidden medical issues or aggravate a current one during or after the groom. This contract gives Dogwood Pet Spaw to obtain immediate Veterinary treatment for your pet should it be deemed necessary by our grooming staff. We will attempt to contact you first, then take your pet to either your authorized Veterinarian (within a 5-mile radius) or to our preferred Veterinarian. All expenses for Veterinary care will be the sole responsibility of the pet owner. Your Dog’s Coat Condition We are a "Humanity before Vanity" salon and will not intentionally cause pain or discomfort to any pet. We will work with you to prevent matting and tangling but may need to take extra steps or charge additional fees for severely matted coats. Matted coats and excessive undercoats can cause a variety of health problems for your pet. Matted fur does not allow for air circulation to the skin causing hot spots or bacterial/fungal infections. Fleas, ticks, and other parasites may be lurking in the coat causing further skin issues. Matted fur also pulls and binds, causing pain to your pet when they move or lay on their mats. Your Groomer will be happy to show you how to care for your pet’s coat in the future, however, we cannot brush out a coat that is severely matted due to the stress and pain it will cause your pet. Dogwood Pet Spaw will not be held liable for any after-grooming effects of shave downs, de-matting, clipping procedures, or problems uncovered on a badly matted or otherwise neglected coat including, but not limited to: hematomas, itchiness, skin redness, or self-inflicted irritations/abrasions from excessive external rubbing. Whether a pet is “matted” is at the sole determination of the groomer. Flea Policy If fleas are found on your pet, we will use Flea & Tick shampoo and add additional charges to the total cost of the groom. Flea shampoo is only temporary treatment. Your yard, house, and other pets will need to be treated to solve the infestation. There are a variety of treatments available, please contact your veterinarian for recommendations. Pickup Arrangements Your groomer will contact you upon completion of your pet’s grooming appointment. Do not arrive unexpectedly or before agreed upon time. Seeing their family can cause excitement for your pet and may have an impact on our ability to finish services. The full price of the services will be charged, even if the haircut cannot be completed and you will be rescheduled for our first available appointment to complete the groom, if necessary, and an additional service fee will be charged for the additional appointment. Our salon closes at 430pm. If your dog is ready and you are unable to pick up by salon closing (without prior arrangements with your groomer) a late pickup fee will be applied.
